CONTESTS


Four contests are open to paid registrants of the conference. Please read the parameters for each contest carefully. Contest winners will be announced during the Friday night book signing. You do not need to be present to win. Winners unable to attend will be contacted by e-mail after the conference. 




Book Proposal Contest

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association will award two six-month certificates for their Christian Manuscript Submissions service.

What To Submit:

* The first chapter of your proposed book

* A synopsis or outline of your idea

Prizes: Two six-month CMS certificates, valued at $98 each

Requirement: A great idea for a book—a profound insight or a wonderful story

Deadline: April 14, 2017

Submission Guidelines:

* Using the email address below, submit the first five pages of your first chapter

* Include either a running synopsis or a chapter-by-chapter synopsis, not to exceed two pages

The Upper Room Devotional Writing Contest

What To Submit: a 300-word devotional
Prize: publication by The Upper Room
Requirements:

* A completed, 300-word devotional following The Upper Room guidelines

* No limit on theme or subject

* May submit up to three devotionals

Deadline: March 31, 2017
Submission Guidelines:

* See The Upper Room web site for details about writing devotionals 

* For purposes of judging, your name should NOT appear on your devotional

* Put "Upper Room contest" in the subject line of your email and include your full name and the title of your work in the body

Elk Lake Book Publishing Contest

What To Submit:

* A paragraph synopsis of your book-length Christian fiction or nonfiction manuscript

* The first 1,500 words of the manuscript

Prize: Contract with Elk Lake Publishing (Publishing contract includes a provision that the author submit a manuscript that is acceptable to the publisher. Elk Lake will work with the winner to polish the manuscript.)

Requirements: A completed, publish-ready, book-length manuscript, fiction or nonfiction 

Deadline: March 14, 2016 Deadline extention: March 28, 2016

Submission Guidelines:

* Using the button below, send your submission as a single Word document attachment

* The subject line of your email should read OCCW Elk Lake Contest

* In the body of your email indicate whether your entry is fiction or nonfiction

* Also in the body of the email give the title of your book and your name

* In your manuscript put the paragraph synopsis at the beginning

* Insert your name, title, and page number in the header

* Use 12-point Times New Roman font and double space your manuscript
